Everything feels new in the spring, and everybody dreams big in the spring. And now so can we. The NFL released its new schedule Thursday, and all over Rams Nation, everyone has the chance to forget last year's 6-10 debacle and dream that 16-0 is just around the corner. Here is the schedule as it stands right now:
Preseason
Thurs. Aug. 10 INDIANAPOLIS (FOX)...7 p.m.
Regular Season
Sep 10 Denver 1:00pm
I say “Right Now” because a new rule stipulates that in the last few weeks of the season, the NFL has the option of taking ANY game and moving it into primetime, based on its playoff implications or the NFL’s love of Brett Favre, the Manning Brothers, and typical East Coast Bias. The last two games of the season could result in the Rams getting into Primetime for only the second and third times all season. They have just one primetime game scheduled with a Monday Night Football matchup against the Bears on Dec. 11.
A few other interesting notes on the schedule:
On Oct. 1, Mike Martz will make his return to St. Louis, now as the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions.
Based on opponents winning percentage from last season, the Rams schedule comes in a tie for the 15th toughest in the league. Rams’ opponents were 130-126 a year ago.
And as usual, for what I believe is the third year in a row, the Seahawks have a bye week prior to playing here.
Overall, it looks to be a good schedule with a great chance for the Rams to return to the top of the Division and make a serious run at the Super Bowl. We’ll see it all start to unfold on August 10, and I for one can’t wait.
DOMINATE ON THREE...1, 2, 3…DOMINATE!
