Flying Low...Below the Radar
July 18, 2006

As we all know this off season has been pretty quiet or let's just put it this way, the media doesn't seem to want to write anything about the Rams. Despite the fact they've probably done more to improve their defense than any other team out there. But that doesn't seem to matter. Sure they'll mention occassionally that the acquisitions were good ones but there's not much more praise after that about anything.

In fact, all they can think about is how poor our record was last year and how abysmal our defense was. There's not one reporter out there that even halfway thinks that our team will be improved. In fact most of them seem to think that we will do the same if not worse. Because of course a team can not improve in just one season to become respectable or become a contender. That's imposssible. In fact they seem to think that it's never been done before, ever. I don't know about anyone else but I seem to recall a team back in 1998 that was, hmmmm let me see here, 4-12 and not only did they improve, become contenders but also won the Super Bowl the following year. Yet according to all the "experts" that's impossible to do. I guess these guess must have slept through 1999.

I find it impossible to believe that we won't improve our record....let's see the throw the QB to the dogs and leave him hanging in the wind attitude is out the door. We actually have a HC that believes that a QB should be protected...what a novel idea. Larry Marmie is gone, now if that's not something that will alone make an marked improvement on defense, I don't know what will. And let's not forget the acquisitions of Glover, Witherspoon and Chavous. If that can't help then we might as well just pack it in. On top of all the changes there's been a change in attitudes as well and we all know that attitude can and does play a big part in performance.

But none of this seems to matter to the "talking heads" because as we all know, they've got tunnel vision and can't think outside of their own little narrow minds. All they can see is what they saw last year and there's just nothing at this point in time that can or will change their ideas and predictions for our beloved Rams.

But there could be something really good about this. The other teams read the same garbage we do and probably feel the same way the media does about us. As far as this fan's concerned, let them. Let them take us lightly, let them ignore us and show us no respect. Go a head, walk into our trap as we lay low and fly under the radar. We don't mind, in fact we love the idea of fighting to gain respect and leave everyone scratching their heads wondering what hit them and how is it that the impossible just happened?

So to all you experts out there, you keep dissing us, you keep predicting us to do lousy, keep telling yourselves that we're nothing to be concerned about and we're not worthy. But when we come in from under the radar like a stealth bomber, I'll be the first one handing out the crow.

GO RAMS!!!!
